About Us

Mel Marshall graduated from the University of Alberta in 1960, with a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1980, he developed Mel C. Marshall Industrial Consultants Inc. based in Delta, British Columbia, as a one-man consulting practice offering services to both the concrete and wire mesh industries. Within a year, he was also representing companies who manufacture equipment and other items for the concrete pipe, block and precast industries.

Mel has more than 50 years experience in the concrete pipe and precast industries, and serves on the committees of Standards Associations such as ASTM and CSA. Mel’s son Braden joined the company in 1990 to help with the MCM Sales side of the business. In 2000, his son-in-law Gary Deppe came on board to aid providing better service to customers in Eastern Canada. Nancy St-Pierre is an associate responsible for the Quebec market, while the company’s US representative, Keith Dart, works out of Portland, Oregon.

Mel Marshall, P.Eng., was awarded the Robert E. Yoakum Award of Merit at the 42nd Annual Convention of the National Precast Concrete
Association convention

In 1998, Mel received the ASTM Merlin G. Spangler Award in recognition of "Distinguished and Outstanding Contributions which advance the excellence of Precast Concrete Pipe Standards, design and Performance."

In 2011, he received the ASTM Frank J. Heger Memorial Award from Committee C-13.
